Couchsurfers in TallinnOld Tallinn

From July 25-27 I took a trip to Tallinn, Estonia. It was a FANTASTIC trip. I had my first couchsurfing experience. For those of you who do not know what couchsurfing is check out Wikipedia :) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CouchSurfing) I stayed with a very friendly and generous woman named Hedi. Her house was 30km outside of Tallinn, in the COUNTRY! The weather was absolutely perfect and my first morning there I laid in the grass for 2 hours. Then, I caught the train into town and walked around Tallinn. I went to a palace and the art museum. The palace and the gardens were very beautiful. The art museum was very interesting. My favourite part was the art between World War Two and when Estonia regained it’s independence. I returned to Hedi’s to meet 4 more couchsurfers. There were 2 guys from Belgium, a girl from Holland and a girl from Latvia. The crazy part is that I KNEW THE GIRL FROM LATVIA! We had met at a couchsurfing meeting a few weeks ago. It was a very strange coincidence. I guess that proves how small the world really is. That night we all went out for supper and dancing. We didn’t get back to Hedi’s until 5 am. The next day Hedi gave us a wonderful tour of Old Tallinn. It is quite a bit different from Old Riga because it is completely surrounded by a wall. Three more guys from Brazil joined us for the tour as they were staying with Hedi that night. Then I had to get back on the bus to go back to Riga. I really did not want to leave! I had such a fun weekend and met such wonderful people. It was also a strange feeling returning *home* to Latvia! Luckily the 3 Brazilians and Michaela (from Holland) were going to Latvia as well, so we met up again in Riga.
